well if they could fight again I would say gaara, because he is less likely to make he same mistakes

Doesnt matter, deidara didnt use the most of his abilities, pretty sure he only used c1 and c2. Means he still has c3 and c4 (which would simply obliterate gaara) at his disposal. Deidara pwns, just like he did the first time, with ease.
