So obama called kanye a jackass for his outburst at the VMA's and it was supposed to be off the record. Yet it managed to get twittered and hit ABC as well. I think this whole thing is just giving kanye too much attention but anyways heres the debate.

Do you think Obama should have even spoken about it even though it was off the record? i mean come on he has better things to talk about such as our soldiers that are STILL in the middle east (for what reason thats logical is unknown to me) or other huge situations on our own turf such as the healthcare reform. And also should someone of his political stature even concern himself with the spoiled celebrities and their hollywood/media crap drama? Discuss!!!

Why should he not?Sure he's the President of the USA.The person with the most power in this world etc.
But he's still human.I personally like the fact he reacted to it,shows more that he is a normal person just like us and that his position doesnt make him cocky or arrogant or however its called.

Thats what this world needs really.A President people can Identify with someone normal not like Bush who sorta abused it power and anyone remember his speech where he insulted that reporter when the microphone was still on?He really though he was something special the exact opposite of Obama and that is what the people like.

Like I said people love a President they can Identify themselves with.

If it is off the record and he isn't saying something "as president" I think the man should be allowed to say what he wants.

I agree with both you and toma but i just dont like how much attention kanye is getting. i dont think in the history we have ever had our nations LEADER talk about a celebrity like that and have it be such a huge deal. I hate kanye and i really think he doesnt deserve all this publicity.

All I can say is Kanye knows how to advertise himself.
WHich is: Controversy.
Controversy creates money and causing for Controversy is one thing Kanye is DAMN good at.

Well of course its a Huge Deal.Obama is one of a kind. He's not the typical stuck up politician like we usually know.Someone you only see once in a lifetime.

Did you hear what the whole thing? I did, one reporter asked him "what do you think of Kwest and his outburst?" obama responded "blah blah blah blah blah" then everyone laughed and then obama said "he is a jackass" to which he laughed and then said "off the record" everyone laughed again.

Again people think of the presidents as super humans without emotions or opinions. I am actually glad he called him a jackass, there is nothing wrong with that.

Probably the only thing I agree with Obama on.

Though this isn't the first time Kanye said something incredibly stupid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIUzLpO1kxI

You should really see Mike Myers and Chris Tuckers facial expression when Kanye said " George Bush doesn't care about black people." Its freakin epic.

I am glad Obama called Kanye West a jackass - that move of West's was pure jackassery, and I am glad that he was called out for it by one of the only people that might have the ability to make Kanye West stop and reflect on his behavior. Moreover, I think it is good to have a president that is in touch with not only the serious issues affecting this nation, but popular topics like this which people across the country are discussing. It humanizes Obama, and reinforces his connection to the nation on a more intimate level as a person, not just a political figure.

Has Kanye gotten way too much attention? Yes. LOL

But on the topic of Obama's opinion, I don't see anything wrong with it. I think people tend to put people in position's of power and a different pedestal. They tend to be looked at as "more than human" or "above that". I am sure he has plenty of opinions about many things we don't hear and that is ok. He just happened to state this opinion in front of people. Of course it was going to get out. But really, he is human and he will have personal opinions on matters as frivolous as this.

Although he is the president, he still has the right to have an opinion. Anyway, I don't blame Obama for thinking Kanye is a jackass, I totally agree.
