View Full Version : Mods Deleting Threads

Should Mods be deleting threads just becuase 1 person spoiled it for everyone else by flaming or spamming?

And should they delete a thread just because they think it is sexist even though it is not?

Should they delete a repost of a good topic that generated a lot of valuable discussion?

Well it should depend on the thread.

I'll agree with this, if something was intentionally sexist then that's wrong but if it was taken out of context then the poster should have been more clear or at least tried to clarify in a later post.

Kuraoda aren't you a super mod? The administrators trust you. That you wont break the rules. And i guess the debate rules say to not make sexist debates.

The point of the topic was for people to come up with rational arguements on why people should be treated equally.

Well, the entire debate was fun and most of the content was meant as a joke, until young girls started talking about puberty and their periods.

Then we got back on topic and it stayed ok for a while, with both sides throwing in good arguments.

I don't know what happened later, but I saw several infractions over that debate which means it should at least be locked. Maybe it even warranted a deletion, I don't know.

Easy now, i'm sure whomever locked/deleted it did it out of necessity. If I where to start flaming, spaming or just generally be rude they need to step in and handle it before the "crazies" get the idea that it is tolerable.

Just because you can't think of a good counter doesn't mean you can make assumptions about my intentions and then run away from the discussion.

So for some further clarification, was it the people debating that took it too far or some random spectators from the side lines?

I get the idea that it was against forum rules(whatever was posted that is).

I don't know if they were random people who got in, I didn't read the whole thing. I know some people who were debating were talking about it too, though.

They made a competition of "Who had it first" Others included "Who's older?" and they also went into comparing who had it first in relation to time and age.

Although it was definitely off-topic, to be fair to the women who posted about that, the entire subject of periods was, if I recall correctly, first raised by the guys who started making jokes about cramps, how it couldn't hurt that much, and how women become emotionally psycho during their cycle. I cannot remember the exact wording, so I am paraphrasing here. My point is: Don't bring up a subject if you don't want it discussed lol

Mods usually only delete threads if they have too, a lot of times I just see them get edited because of something against the rules and it's not like losing posts are the end of the world you can always get them back. I had over a thousand like in June and now it's only in the 800's and I haven't complained once. So yes I think mods should delete threads when they need too :D

It was the topic itself that was the problem, not necessarily the people in it, though that was a contributing factor.

as much as i am against it, (mods going god mode) it is their duty and their job, so they have the right. The thing is they should not be biased on topics, ive seen a lot of topics and A LOT of chatting that is worthy of even banning and no one gets blamed, but when someone brings out the "oh i am (insert age here) i am getting out" post, the mods take consideration into it. Be fair to all post and threads and chatboxes (that goes to the mods and admins) Ive seen a lot of "looking the other way" parts and a lot of "oh what you said "isht"? you are banned" parts too. come on guys be fair.

Moderators have every right to delete troll threads. Regardless what the average Youtube commenter has to say, you do not have a right to free speech in an online community which the admins put their time and effort into creating for themselves just so you can be an arsehole and stir up trouble.
