So, one thing I've learned between reading both online scans and American translations is the different spellings and names. Sometimes I prefer the online, while with others I enjoy the American. I use both, depending on where I am, because some forums are very nit-picky with the American publishers and, for example, will get on my arse if I type out 'shonen' instead of 'shounen', or 'Choji' instead of 'Chouji'.

One thing I like better by the online scans is the use of ROOTS, over 'The Foundation'. Just sounds betters.

So, which do you type out? Do you stick with the online trans or the Viz's?

it can depend i too like roots better but sometimes the fan translation is bad and makes what people say sound really bad or akward so i vary

I use the VIZ translation because it's easier most of the time. Now and then, though, if you're searching for something online, you get more results if you do other versions of the same word. :)

I do not really care but then again a bad translation could be very bad but how would I know if it's right or wrong anybody could make up lies I wouldn't even know so I would probably trust the Viz translation

I use the scans just to stay up with the story but then I go out and buy the graphic novels as soon as they come out in America and and read them again. Although Viz does tend to make it a bit more childish then it actually is, but that's alrigh since the storyline stays the same and all. But I did read Naruto first in Shonen Jump while I still had a subscription.

Yeah, I started off with watching the anime on CN, and then somehow found myself not willing to wait another week for another episode, only for Gaara not to transform anyway. I found YouTube after that, and then when I had caught up with Japan started reading the manga online. I buy every single volume in America that comes out when I can to make up for that though, and find myself yelling at the pages whenever one of Sai's parts comes up... and it irked me that they blocked out Konohamaru's 'new' sexy jutsu and made Sakura's reaction sound lame-ish... but it can't be helped. I don't think the mother's of this continent could handle something like that.

I know, I felt the same way! Seriously, if parents have a problem with that kind of stuff, then why do they let their kids buy it anyway? It says T for Teens on the cover.

I read both. I read the scans 'cause I can't wait and I read Viz's (Shonen Jump) so I can see how close they are. I trust Viz translations more though...

It's common for Japanese names and words to have a "U" after an "O" when spelled in English.

I type those kind of words both ways.
I use Shonen more often than Shounen, though.
