Cause if you are caught up with the manga
Naruto has just defeated pain and the village is looking at him as a hero. And of you remember he said he wanted to become Hokage so the village would look at him as a person and not a monster. And so now that the village is seeing him as a hero why would he need to be Hokage? and also with Narutos personality can you see him sitting behind a desk for 10 to 12 hours a day signing paperwork?

Naruto will definitely become Hokage. That's the whole point. If he doesn't it would completely suck.

You should read the manga to keep up with the most recent happenings. The anime is literally years behind the manga...
anyways, who knows what will happen? Part of me agrees with rocketjed1, but I just don't think Naruto would ever rest until he becomes Hokage. I think he'll most likely either become Hokage, or die before he has the chance.

I can't see Naruto as the Hokage, honestly.
I they'd pick someone like Shikamaru or Neji before considering Naruto.

Don't you think Naruto is still pretty young to become Hokage? (He's only 15 people.)Plus rocketjet's right. Naruto's already achieved his goal. There'd really be no point for Naruto to become Hokage now. Plus you know how Kishimoto is. He likes to make you think one thing and then turn around and do the exact opposite.

Oh, I've never thought of those two as candidates! I agree though. A Hokage needs not just strength, but battle intelligence and overall wisdom as well, which both Shikamaru and Negi have (especially Shikamaru...) Naruto would be better off out of the office and on the battlefield.
