Is Raikage a good character?

I'm trying to use him online, but it seems he cannot match with faster characters. Maybe it's because I'm a newbie but still I need opinions, is he worth using?

I don't have Gen, but it's ironic how he's one of the fastest characters. Yet, he's not fast in game!

They really did it wrong this time.

He should blitz around in raition armor not having hits slower then karin. Even if they went with the whole wrestler theme those wrestlers should still be faster then your avarage girl.

He's like any other slow character. Rushing and combo-battles should not be your priority. Although he isn't slow enough that he can't stand up to some faster characters.

His jump+shuriken->grab is very good

Only two kind of people use him though. The Pros who know exactly how he should be played, or new players.

He's good with select supports, and he is pretty fast. You just want to focus on baiting their substitutions, whilst preserving yours.

Raikage is a tough one to start with, go with something that requires less experience to use lol.

I'm not all that partial to him myself, because of his slow combo speed, but I'll bet that if you really work with him, he's probably a force to be reckoned with.
