Competitive Pokemon Tournament! RULES & SUMBISSION

Hello Pokemon fans and battlers!
Welcome to the Competitive Pokemon Battling Tournament!!

In this tournament, contestants will use their Pokemon battling skills in 6V6 Singles matches using Over Used Pokemon. Brackets will be Double Elimination, so if you lose once, you still get another chance to stay in the tournament.

We will be using Pokemon Online Simulator (http://pokemon-online.eu/)

OR

Pokemon Showdown (http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/lobby) in browser simulator.

The first option, PO, requires you to download and install the simulator, so if you do not feel like doing this, then just go with the second option that does not require any type of downloads or installation.

For Pokemon Online go to this page (http://pokemon-online.eu/download) and download and install it for whatever Operating System you use. (Windows, Mac,.....Linux)
If you are going to use Pokemon Online and need help, then I'll post up a guide for it.

If you do not want to download this, then just go to the Pokemon Showdown website. (http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/lobby)
Click choose name in the top right corner to log in. No registration is required, just type in a username.

Then go onto the team builder tab on the top left of the screen to start making your team.

Hit "New Team" to make your team, and make your format OU.

Then add pokemon and fill in what moves, items, etc. you want.
For the EVs, you can spread them out to the stats however you want, as long as they add up to no more that 508. Each stat can have a max of 252 EVs.

But BEFORE you make your team, PM it to me or post it here so that I can see if it is acceptable or not.

Right now, I'll have to leave with this brief explanation:

EV's and IV's are bonus stats. The more you have on a stat, the higher they will be.

I'll give you a more thorough explanation soon, when I can.

The full explanation:

None of this is actually important for the tournament.
EV stands for Effort Value.
In the Pokemon games, when ever you beat a Pokemon you'll get EV points for a stat. For example if you beat a Jigglypuff, you'll get 2 HP EVs. Four EVs are equal to one stat point. So If you beat two Jigglypuffs and level up, you'll get +1 HP. Each stat can have a maximum of 255 EVs and each Pokemon can have 510 EVs
IV's stand for individual values. Pokemon are just naturally "born" with them, and, if I recall correctly, you can get try to get the best IVs possible through selective breeding. And, as ILIKEPIE pointed out, they determine a pokemon's nature, which determines the move, hidden power's type.
I am going to go ahead and make the submission deadline December 17th. A week from tomorrow, so if you know anyone who would be interested in this, bring them over here!

Teams can easily be moved between simulators without having to remake them. I'll post a guide if anyone wants to know how to do that.

That is a rule used in the official nintendo tournaments, but since we're using the rules of standard competitive play, we will not be using that rule. You can have the same item on more than one Pokemon.

Yes, you can use any pokemon EXCEPT the ones listed

You can use either simulator. You don't need an account on the website to install Pokemon Online.
If you don't want to make any installations, then just use Showdown.

The deadline for entering the tournament is December 17th.
The deadline for teams will be December 23rd, but if everyone is ready before then, well get started early.

The only thing you need to do beforehand is make your team (on PO or PS)
and post it here or PM it to me.
You'll need to include the moves and ability of each Pokemon, as well as the items, EVs, and nature when you post them.

For example,

Ah Blaziken. In Gen V Blaziken gained the ability speed boost, making too good for OU, forcing Pokemon battlers to ban it to the Uber Tier. I apologize, but Blaziken will not be allowed this time around.

Your IVs can each be a max of 31. If you don't have the move hidden power, then keep them all 31.

If you do have hidden power, then change they type to whatever type you want it to be, then don't touch the IVs. They should all be 31 or 30.

You make a good point, and I wanted everyone to have their teams in before Christmas on the 23rd. Once all the teams are in and I wrap up some other things, the battles will take place whenever the 2 opponents and a ref (I'll explain the referee system later) are online at the same time. So basicly the tournament will start soon after all the teams are in and the contestants are ready. Since it'll be a holiday vacation, I don't expect the first round to be over before January 2nd or 3rd.

If anyone doesn't think they'll be able to get their team in by the deadline, then let me know.

While we're on this subject, will any of you guys be away from teh internets during the end of the month?
