"this is his doing he defiantly has something in mind but what things don't seem to be going as according to plan very well". this is what he said read it closely and you will see also we all see how tobi react when kabuto showed him madara. so its clear this is his plan and there working together please tell me what you guys think.

-How did Madara know about Tobi, and vice versa? Also, how were they originally working together even though their lives were incredibly spaced.

-Did Tobi actually give Nagato the Rinnegan? If so, how? Nagato activated Rinnegan long before Obito even activated his Sharingan. BUT, if he was still implying he was Madara at this point, then it could have still meant that MADARA gave Nagato the Rinnegan, not Tobi.

-Tobi has MS. How?

-Tobi knows ridiculous amounts of Ninja lore and Uchiha lore. Much more than the average person of Kakashi's age would. How?

-Last one, HOW THE **** DID OBITO SURVIVE. Don't worry about the giant freakin' rock crushing your skull, it's no biggie, just you know, brush yourself off, get a new sharingan, and hey, you're good to go.

Thing is; every single theory about Tobi is in some way plausible, otherwise it wouldn't be a mystery. If absolutely only one person could have been Tobi then there'd be no mystery. Fact is, we still don't know anything. Obito's actions in Kakashi Gaiden gave more insight into his character than that flashback.

I believe Madara saved him or Orochimaru revived him.. Then his "dark side" took over. Obito then wanted to become more powerful then anyone and he heard about how to unlock the MS (killing someone close or a dramatic experience). I believe Obito killed Rin and Kakashi was then shocked into getting MS when he heard the news.

Obito was Minato's student. Kakashi's best friend. He had a personality similar to Naruto's. But what changed him? He died a hero protecting people he loved. There's no spark as to why he became the ultimate evil trumping Uchiha Madara in terms of darkness. To dispute that is silly. Tobi is evil. He's no anti-hero. His agenda is to essentially deny people the right to freedom. That's tyrannical and evil. What would make Obito that way?

And that's my problem. Sure, he can BE Obito. How'd he survive, though? Well easy, Zetsu. But who sent Zetsu? Whoever did it would then undermine Tobito's power. Was it Madara? Will Madara be the final villain? Was this all his plan to begin with? Or what's the angle here, do you see where I'm coming from?

I don't believe this not because its impossible, but because its so extremely improbable that Obito's scenario fits the necessary requirements to grow into such a knowledgeable villain, and at his young age, he'd have to have someone behind him. And there's only two people: Zetsu and Madara. And IMO? That route undermines Tobi as the arch villain, unless he isn't meant to be the arch villain, which is even more improbable than the idea of Obito being his true identity.

I agree, every 10th chapter tends to be something major, so I believe chaoter 600 (being a 10th and 100th) will be insane! Lets hope some great action and commentary come out of it! Even if its not Obito talking! It could have something to do with where Sasuke is going and what it all means could be revealed there also...would be interesting.

I was surprised. Admittedly, I am a little upset, just because up until now, Tobi/Madara's character has been inconsistent with Obito's and I can't figure how he would become the type of person he is now. In Kakashi Chronicles, Obito was essentially the Team Minato version of Naruto. (As is perhaps a little too common in Naruto, there is generally a Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura equivalent in every team.) Given how many evil people Naruto himself has changed, it's hard to see how someone so like Naruto would become evil.

Although, objectively, Obito is probably the best person to have take on Tobi's identity. The major ideology behind Tobi's character, which is easiest to compare to that of the Templar in Assassin's Creed, is that there is no hope for humanity to move forward and achieve a peaceful existance on its own, because when given free will humans will always choose to do the evil thing so long as it benefits themselves. As a result, free will must be taken away. Although not explicitly stated, Obito is not the type of person to have adopted such a form of thinking.

The impact of this revelation is thusly that people become shocked that Obito is Tobi, because it's just as unbelievable to the reader as it is to the characters themselves. Furthermore, if Obito's change is shown in a believable way, a chain of events seen from the eyes of someone dead to the world, then the impact of Obito's current ideology is given much more weight. This is someone who not only believes that humanity is hopeless, but is someone who was previously beloved for his hope and lost it because of the awful nature of reality.

It's not as much a great plot twist in the sense of "didn't see that coming" because most of the Naruto fan base, at some point, believed Tobi was Obito, and the author himself didn't try to hide it much. It's more a plot twist in the sense of sheer shock that it was someone who it shouldn't have been, because not only should the person be dead, but the person shouldn't believe a word of anything he's said since his appearance.

The other problem is how Obito survived, but that's really an easy explanation. Zetsu used Mayfly to take his body and Madara used Hashirama's DNA to repair him, as it would seem by the change to parts of his face.
