The 55th volume of Bleach reached 521,626 in sales on June 4, 2012 topping the charts in Japan. That is the highest it has been since August 4, 2010.
Volume 54 was 269,751
What do you expect, 54 was Failbring.

People still buy bleach in Japan.
Gotta have some way to remove color.
Oh wait, that explains the lack of background in Manga.
