NU has proven on multiple occassions shown they can clone an individual and mirror their strength. That trap is pretty hax. I don't see why it wouldn't work on them. I am being serious.:maybe

And of course, if they do end up fighting themselves then the naruto verse is going to get caught in the cross fire, so they're still screwed.

Pain still created the clones on more than one situation. Meaning with enough prep its within his capabilities to create them outside of the trap or using a different means altogether. As far as the cross fire thing goes they can't level areas. At most they can create extremely concentrated attacks. Aoe such as big bang was not any of their attacks. It was only Ascended SSJ not SSJ2. and either way, Gohan destroyed cell, who regened from a single cell after blowing himself up. Nobody in Narutoverse can handle that kind of power. And to answer your question, yes, bad matchup.

The clones are only one aspect. The clones can essentially hold down. Leaving them open for a soul rip etc. Prep is the only scenario that matters. Also you said they can tank a c4 do show me when their internal organs got that powerful.

the only way to combat C4 is for some1 to transform into SSJ2 as electricity runs arouond the body, so maybe running throught the body, defusing them, but both goten and trunks havent shown that feat (only future trunks) unless they fused into gotenks
