Trigun manga and anime

It always seems to be a heated discussion between me and my friends, but with oter otaku also. What I don't understand is why people think one is better than the other(the manga over the anime). I personally thought that they both were equally good. But what do you people think????

Ive seen the anime some and not read the manga but i just think that if you like the anime then you should like the manga no matter how different it is....but thats just me.
