In 575, after Madara's "Hasirama" Form was revealed, Kabuto says that what Ori created was on a completely different level than what Danzo prototyped. The only way I can interpret this is that Oro was the first to combine Madara's powers and the 1st's. Meaning... Oro morphed Madara himself with Hasirama's wood realease. If Oro was the one to do this (assuming he Edo Tensei-Ed Madara), why would he go to the trouble to get Itachi or Sasuke when he already had one of the most badass Shinobi?

Theory: Oro is SOOOOO much older than we think him to be. When we saw him as a child was not him. That was Oro using his Soul Transfer tech. to take control of a child (effects of the child's physical appearance might have changed over time). Oro was actually born waaaay back when, during Madara's time. He saw the power of Madara and Hasirama, and offered to do experiments and whatnot on Madara since Madara wanted more power. Oro gave Madara all these power-ups hoping to take control of Madara's body. By this time, Madara would have had the Sharingan (EMS), the Rinnegan, and Wood Release. Madara probably didn't like the idea of being taken over by Oro so they fought it out. How Madara dies, I don't know. Oro probably escaped somehow (cuz he's good at that) and took control of the child we knew him as at the beginning of the series. When the 3rd caught Oro doing experiments, it was never stated that is was the Soul Transfer tech. The 3rd just said something about "immortal jutsu". Oro was actually perfecting Edo Tensei at that point, trying to revive his lost creation: Madara.

Few key points against your theory:
Danzo prototyped, Oro mastered, means that Danzo attempted prior to Oro. Why would you interpret that statement as Oro trying first, when the very definition of the words Kabuto used says otherwise

Madara didn't have wood release while he was alive. He gained this due to Kabuto's enhanced ET; Rinnegan was gained shortly before he died. Highly doubt he was experimented upon with regards to Hashirama's DNA within that short time

Your disproved your own point: Oro wanted a live Uchiha, which is why he wants Sasuke. None of this would be needed if he knew/experimented on Madara while he was alive

If Oro was trying to perfect ET and revive his lost creation, why would he revive Hashirama and Tobirama (and not Madara) when battling Hiruzen? That wouldn't make sense.

i like the theory. if the soul transfer takes someone at a young ageits possiable. the third said as a student oro was a genius, and thats the youngest we see him, he grows up the same age as tsunade and ero senin but remember when he faces the third he has a new body and says its his second one. but remember edo tensin wasnt the jutsu the third knew him to be working on cuz he wasnt surprised at that. it was the sould transfer jutsu that you say he used way back when. so he cant use something he hasnt developed yet. as far as him creating madara as an edo tensin possiable. very. cuz if he didnt how did kabuto get it. he found it and completed it. sound bout right but why not use him against the third, trump card oro uses the first and second to begin he didnt need madara and oro had a purpose behind it. since oro had to kill his teachers he wanted the third to kill his he had a reason to use them so madara would be one of his choices for the beginning of the battle

I'm kind of confused with this theory, it's like there's something missing. But the thing that grabbed my attention was about Orochimaru being older than what was claimed, I at first also thought this about Orochimaru but then I realised that it was impossible, and I am convinced that Orochimau is the same age as Tsunade and Jiraiya. I remembered one scene in the anime, if Orochimaru was older than stated, why was he (as a kid) go to his 'parent's' grave if the kid was not really him, and the kid was someone he 'possessed'? Wouldn't Sandaime be like "what is this boy doing?" .... Get what I mean? LOL XD
