View Full Version : Film: Remakes

Remakes are typically done to either revive a dead franchise of movie or to cash in on the name. Few remakes are successful remakes but two remakes I thought were pretty good were Dawn of the Dead and Fright Night. While they aren't as good as the originals they do hold up as a modern version of the films. What do you think?

Dawn of the Dead was good but i've always loved the original. I haven't seen the remake of Fright Night yet but i did like the original.
The remake of Halloween by Rob Zombie was awesome i thought. The second film was soooo gory but the story was a bit iffy. The first one was probably just as good as the original.
The remake of Nightmare on Elm Street was't as good as i thought it was going to be.
I think the success of remakes can go either way. They will never be as good as the original but they usually do hold up pretty well.

Yeah completely. I tend to enjoy the remakes because I go into them not holding the classic in my mind from a standpoint of if I am seeing this for the first time.
