I'm confused, is this supposed to be the prelude to the Batman series, or the end?

Vatanui AKA Pride
12-11-2011, 12:50 AM
I'm thinking it'd be the end, as the catchphrase says 'The Legend Ends' on the poster.

But that sounds too far fetched and crazy to be the answer, right? http://www.narutoforums.com/images/smilies/series2/kruemelmonster.gif

Ah okay, I wonder who the final opponent is.

Bane or Ra's al Ghul gets my vote.

Bane and catwoman? FFFFFFFF-

WHAT IS THIS!?

There is no speculation on either roles, and if the two will be allies or not.

As for Bane however, it's damn obvious that he will be the antagonist.

It isn't like I don't like the Batman series. I really liked Dark Knight. But when I saw the commercials for this I almost laughed. I mean lately with movies it is like sequel after sequel or prequel whatever you all get my point. AND if that isn't bad enough.. they go REMAKE movies that are really not that old. So I am not excited for this movie. In fact there hasn't been any movie that has caught my attention lately save one. I am kinda disappointed about it too.

Bane is cool, but I was hoping for someone who can really beat Batman mentally and physically. Like Joker beat him mentally for the most part, but not really physically. Bane can pretty much beat him physically, I'd just like to see someone pulling the strings.

I guess you guys don't know much about Bane. Not only is he a beast who was able to break Batman's back in the comics, he is also incredibly smart. So he is a perfect choice for the villain.

Catwoman is also in the movie and she has her own motives, but will most likely end up teaming up with bats or helping him in some way.

Rha's Al Ghoul and his daughter Talia will also have some role in the plot.

And I'm sure some other villains might pop up, like scarecrow did in the last one.

If it isn't as good or better then the avengers, i'm gonna cry like a little bitc* and go home and watch the dark knight. JK. That is how some people are though with this movie, derpage at it's finest.

These are my ratings for the movies i've seen in 2012

The Avengers (twice) (9/10)
The Hunger Games (8/10)
Chronicle (10/10)
The Grey (4/10)
Safe House (7.5/10)
Prometheus (10/10)

Planning on catching Ted, Moonrise Kingdom, Savages, Dark Knight Rises and Spiderman this month in theaters.

And the critics seem to agree:

Vince Peluso: https://twitter.com/itsLOGOSbitch/status/221295365226369027

SuperHeroHype:
"I'm almost afraid to post this after KOF's reactions, but i just got out of an exhibitor screening in Dallas of TDKR. It was absolutely incredible. Better than TDK in almost all ways. Whoever gave this a 9/10 is being too harsh. If this isn't a 10, then a 10 does not exist.

Let me start with the story. The story is tied in perfectly to the other two films and I do believe this is a perfect trilogy. Quite a bit of the speculation on these boards is very close to the truth, but there are many aspects of the story that have not been speculated about. Expect a few good surprises.

The performances of the actors are magnificent. I can't decide if Anne Hathaway, JGL, Hardy, or Bale give the best performance. Anne Hathaway flirts the line between sexy and vicious very well. She is a bad broad. She captures the ambiguity of her character very well and looks sexy as hell in her get-up. JGL is basically the heart of Gotham during the film. He is a young cop who quickly earns the respect of Gordon during this time. His character is VERY important to the story. Bale gives his best Batman performance yet. The voice is perfect the entire time and you see him go through several changes as a person in this film. Hardy is a bad bad dude. His performance is truly brillaint when you consider the obstacles of the mask. There are a few takes that the audio seems a little off from his expressions but all in all, he is great. The emotion he shows with his eyes, particularly towards the end is really something.

The score, cinematography, and editing are top notch. I unfortunately did not watch this in the best of theaters and that may have taken away from some of the brilliance of it. I can't wait to watch it again in IMAX, because there are several scenes that were obviously paired down for the smaller screen.

Rest easy everyone, Chris Nolan has outdone himself and has created a masterpiece. This may go down as one of the best movies ever. Certainly in my top 10 for best movies I've ever seen. If this does not break the mold and win Best Picture, no comic book movie ever will."

The information hasn't actually been confirmed, seeing as that the Cracked article, as most on the Internet right now, is based on mere speculation. But you're right, the idea of John Blake becoming the next Batman, or Robin, is a popular theory among fans.

So I went to the Dark Knight Marathon. I got a lanyard, sticker, and shirt.

Review:

So, after arriving at the theater at 4 PM, and crowding into the XD room, we started our two our wait for the 1st film to begin... then we watched the next... and then there was a 45 minute break. Finally, when it started, the crowd cheered. My expectations smashed through the atmosphere, and when it started... I had mixed feelings.

Huh. The beginning was very slow, compared to the fist and ninja fights of the first, or the bank robbery and fake Batman fiasco in the second. I did like the plane scene with Bane, but it was pretty boring except for Catwoman for the rest of the 1st Act. The truth of Dent's death had still been covered up, which was kinda interesting. Bruce himself, has been stricken with grief and hasn't donned the Batman suit for 8 years and has become a cripple (not really a spoiler since he just fixes that later).

As the film progressed with Bane's appearance in Gotham, we learn that his back story is drastically different, as he isn't Hispanic. However, the back story we hear is pretty decent. The only thing is, I can't understand him half of the time, and I'm not sure if they ever said that he had TITAN in him, but correct me if I'm wrong. He's just reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaally OP.

Sadly, though, for a film called The Dark Knight Rises (people who've watched it know why it's called RISES) doesn't have that much Batman in it. There's a scene or two with the cops chasing him, since he's accused of killing Dent, and him chasing Bane, but that's the most Batman in the beginning. Most of the action follows the cop, and this one hot-headed cop kid named Blake.

As you see in the trailer, he gets captured by Bane and has to escape and save the city. Also, there's a smexy Catwoman and a cop named Blake in there.

ENDING AND STUFF:
Yes, Batman DID in fact die. There would be literally no way for him to outrun the nuke, even if he had dropped it, otherwise he could've made six miles and came back fast enough to survive. The scene at the end where Alfred sees them in France is all in his head, as he said that over the 7 years Bruce left to train, Alfred would see him at the table with a wife and kids, but that was all in his head. This was another one of those visions to reassure Alfred that Bruce was in peace... or it could've been a Ra's Al Ghul like ghost.

Batman died, but Bruce Wayne survived.

And about Blake being Robin... cool! But where would he get his Robin suit? e.e

Score: 9/10

GREAT Movie. 10/10, needed more fights with Bane, and I'll give my take on the end in a few.

Okay at the end Batman is supposedly killed by the nuke, and there is five seconds on the clock we see Batman still in the cockpit, bringing up the question, how did he get six miles away in five seconds? Well there could be a few possibilities, he could've sent the ship on it's fastest speed, then hopped out while gliding down to the ocean as the gilder speeds off at it's highest speed. It could've easily covered at least a few miles in that distance, as it covered at LEAST 12 miles in under a minute. Even if it didn't get six miles away Batman could've survived underwater and with his suit on with not dying. Or it glider could've had a smaller vehicle in it.

Bane doesn't even have TITAN chemicals in the first place. The mask he wears suppresses his pain, and in fights, can actually keep him from feeling pain.

Hence why he didn't even budge when handicapped Batman was wailing away at him in their first fight. Or why he started to freak out when newly revived Batman broke one of the mask's gas links with his gauntlets.

Well, Batman as Bruce Wayne died. Blake takes on the mantle, not becoming Nightwing or Robin, but the next Batman. He also now has the Batcave that was generously left behind and is likely stocked with the Bat's gadgets. Of course, I could see Fox helping him in the future, now that he realizes that Bruce hadn't actually died.

Eh, perfect score for me. Amazing movie from start to finish. One of the best films I've seen. Ever.

Can't blame a guy for probably spending twenty years stuck in a pit somewhere in the smack dab of the Middle East and then picking up some prison fighting skills. The same happened to Bruce too; hence the Keysi Fighting Method the choreograph directors use in his fights.

Yeah, but he was a prisoner before he was a ninja. Plus he was exiled from the clan for being a "monster"

My question is why did Talia sleep with Wayne?

She was probably trying to seduce him, get him to trust her and place her in a position where there wouldn't be any suspicions. And to an extent, it did work. Bruce's relationship with Miranda made him subconsciously leave her out of the picture when he was trying to piece the puzzle back together, making him assume that Bane was Ra's Al Ghul son.

Either that, or she could have been just plain evil. Wanting to deal both psychological, emotion, and physical pain at the same time when she back-stabbed Bruce. bo.o"

If anything else though, it was a subtle foreshadowing. The scar on Talia's body that Bruce saw is the mark of the League of Shadows.

Kingsnoke
07-26-2012, 07:21 PM
Kingsnoke saw the movie on Wenesday and really enjoyed it. However he feels that the Dark Knight still far surpasses it.

Commence review.
So I should preface this review by stating that The Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies. I don't follow any comic books so my knowledge of the Batman Cannon is limited to Arkham Asylum, Adam West Batman, and the previous two films.

I'm rather torn on Rises. It's a really good super hero movie, and a solid conclusion to the trilogy, but it doesn't really stand out on it's own merit like The Dark Knight does.
Here's what I liked:
First off I love the opening sequence. It's intense and different than the Dark Knight. I also enjoy Bane. He does a good job of being powerful yet maintaining eloquence. He's no Joker but is nice none the less until the very end.
Catwomen is done brilliantly. She walks moral grey area very well, and Hathaway nails the eloquence of the character. I almost wish that she had been in the other films.
The fight scenes with Bane are nice and intense, and the lack of music during the first major fight is a very nice touch.
Bale does a very good job with a tortured Bruce, and Alfred continues to be brilliant.
The ending of the film was also nice with the reveal of Robin and *death* of Bruce Wayne.

Now my biggest problem with the film is the Talia villain switch. It undermines Bane and reduces him to a mouthpiece and muscle man. As a viewer I have no real reason to hate Talia like I did the Joker or Bane. It happens to late in the film, and defeats the purpose of Bane. I'm told to not like her due to her being the big bad.
I also don't care for Talia throughout the movie, though that could just be my dislike of that actress.

I also don't like the Ras al Ghul callbacks. I never really like Ras that much in the first movie, and his role in this one seems poorly executed. Other Batman villains would have filled the role better like the Riddler.

Now the problem that this movie has is that it follow The Dark Knight, and while it is a good movie it doesn't reach the same level that it's prequel did. It doesn't raise the bar like the Dark Knight did.

About half of the film or so was recorded in IMAX.

The Batcave was implied to have been intentionally left behind for an inheritor to find. Hence why Bruce didn't completely destroy it in the first place, but also how and whom the mansion wings were divided at the end.

Lucius said in the last two films, "anything but a straight shot".
As for the knife, remember that when wearing kevlar or body armor, it doesn't surround your entire body, different places have less amounts, and some have none at all. I'm pretty sure that Batman fighting Bane for two minutes was enough time for Talia to analyze a shallow point to stab.

All this stuff happening in Gotham, meanwhile Batman is preparing for a flashy return that'd take quite some time xD

Remember, there was a skip in months between Bruce lifting himself out of the prison pit and him arriving in Gotham to rescue Blake and Gordon. There's a lot of time for those months that were left offscreen, and most of it implied or shown through quick, still shot/scenes.

Even though Bane isn't as funny and awesome as the Joker, he's the only one who made Batman look like a p***y.

I liked catwoman's goggles ._.
it was neat how they went from cat ears to goggles.
Bane's voice was weird for me at first, it didn't seem scary enough.

The Lazarus Pit was there?!

I thought that was just a jail cell!

It was Nolan's version of it.

The description fit exactly as to the comics'. And in a sense, both Bane and Batman did emerge out of it renewed and invigorated.

I haven't yet..my friends won't watch it, they say it's lame and nerdy.
No DvDrip available...

-___-

My cousin said the same thing. Three hours later, she was bawling about the movie.

Dammit, just watch the movie while you can. Nothing's going to fit the scale of seeing Rises in IMAX.

I'm not going to a movie were people have been killed.

Might as well stay away from elevators, Pokemon, and schools while you're at it. Food vendors too.

except catwoman :D

Actually, Alfred, Lucius, Blake, and Gordon all knew, or at least suspected, that he was alive.

Hence why Alfred saw Bruce. Or Lucius and the fixed autopilot. And Blake with the coordinates to the still-functioning Batcave, which was suspiciously left behind at the very same insurance company that Bruce Wayne's mother's pearl necklace was also held at, and had somehow mysteriously vanished that same day. Not to mention Gordon with the fixed Bat Signal in his last scene. Which also slightly ties into the reason why Gordon refused to tell neither Blake or the public who Batman's true identity was.

It also tells how Batman may have escaped the nuclear explosion, and with definite, verified proof.

Great logic. Are you gonna stay away from outside, just to be safe?

So, basically:

Batman had the bomb in Bat A, but also had Bat B behind him to pick him up. Bat B is obviously the one Fox found in the end because the Bat can't be the Indiana Jones fridge in Nolanverse. He then flew away, picked up Selina, sent the coordinates, rebuilt the signal, and then went off to change his identity to Christian Bale and made millions.
