"The Lies of a Bad Fish"
"What kind of fool do you take me for?!
No, just shut up! Get your foot out of my door!"
He starred at me with big fearful eyes
Now that he's been caught up in all of his lies.
"Did you really think I wouldn't find out?
You know what? Nevermind! Just get the hell out!"
He shouted, screaming those girls ment nothing.
"Sure, Susie, Jordan, and even Mary-Jay Ling.
They all ment nothing to you. Just like me!"
Later that night, I lay in my bed, trying to sleep,
But the constant sting of his betrayal causes me to weep.
Why did he do this? How could I miss the signs?
Instead, I just absorbed his lies; his well-versed lines.
As I lay in the cold dark,
I screamed out my sorrows over losing Mark.
The anguish and sadness that I feel
Is crushing me under its weight; my mind begins to reel.
Then I start to wonder if anything we had was ever really true.
"June, I heard about what happened between Mark and you.
You're eyes look so red, like you haven't slept in a day or two."
I look at my dear Nate with blood-shot eyes,
And suddenly wonder why his concern is such a surprise.
"Yeah, Mark wasn't really ment for me,
But there are plenty of other fish in the big blue sea."
He grinned as his eyes glimmered with a hopeful light.
"If you caught me," he said, "I wouldn't put up much of a fight."
My smile matches his and I soon realize maybe, I should give Love another try.
