Chapter Thirty-Two: The Calm Before the Storm of Ice


Nui offered a confused look at his companions. "Frozen Wastelands?" Sakura returned his question with an answer:
"The Frozen Wastelands: Over ten thousand kilometers of nothing but ice and snow that is north of the Crossroads. The Ice Puppets Clan is located about twenty kilometers east of where we are now and that part of the land is managed by the Kurikage. It is also here where Hisagi Onimusha is rumored to reside."
With that, Sakura glared at the ice underneath her feet as Nui glanced away, both in a mixture of loss and pain.

The Black Gate remained open, patiently waiting for its victims (Oh wait, did I said victims, whoops) users to come to it, releasing a menacing feel in the chilly wind as it sat there with that symbol on it that sent chills to everybody's spines for only one reason that only they knew.
The brunette-haired woman known as Matsumora then started walking toward the Black Gate. The child named Allon quickly followed suit, his eyes still closed. The wolf-faced Kaname was behind all of them, stomping on the ice floor as it shook and cracked with each step he took, threatening to break and sent him into the chilly depths of the ocean waiting just beneath him.

After crossing past twenty yards, they were now standing before the Black Gate, yet neither of them were excited about actually venturing in there, after have hearing all of the unconfirmed rumors. "So...who wants to go in first?" Matsumora asked, hoping someone would answer it with a "yes".
Neither of her companions answered, both of them as nervous as they are.
"Alright then," Matsumora muttered and then moved toward Allon. Before the boy could say anything, she kicked him in the rear end and he was sent flying into the Black Gate.
Matsumora then stood there for a moment. She then grinned when she heard nothing, deciding that it was safe. With that, she ran at the door excitedly and too disappeared into complete darkness.
Kaname went last, jumping into as the Black Gate closed with a slam.

What inside the Black Gate was nothing that anyone would have expected, but what was the opposite of what they would have guessed. Matsumora, Allon, and Kaname all widened their eyes in shock as they flew through the hot air, steadily approaching the sandy desert below them and the sun hit their faces.
Allon was the first to land: he softly hit the crusty sand, causing a small but quiet explosion of sand as it flew around him. Matsumora landed to his right, and with a louder landing of sand. Kaname struck the ground like a bullet. The split-second he struck the calm desert, it exploded sand everywhere around him, creating a small sandstorm that only lasted a moment as everyone shielded their eyes.
They each slowly stood up, slowly taking in their surroundings.

"Surprising, isn't it? I'll give you all a few minutes to take it in."

Immediately, all heads turned to the direction where the voice had just come from. The voice seemed hypnotic, and had a light British accent to it. Soon, everyone's eyes widened as they looked at the man himself, in the flesh, Lord Hisagi Onimusha.

Chapter Four: The Leader of the Light Clan.

Just as Kama swung his black sword down, Nui began to instantly form one handed handsings with his free hand. Suddenly, a burst of pure light exploded out of Nui's hand. The power generating from it sent Kama flying. He smashed into a wall, and through it. Rubble and bricks fell down as Kama lay on the ground. A human-sized hole was in the wall. Soon, it was a normal circular hole because of the rubble falling in. Nui stood before it, gazing grimly at the sight.
"Light Style: Light Palm: Achieved."

"What do you mean that someone's here?" Vatas questioned. "I said that someone is watching us." Toshi replied. Just then, an giant object appeared out of the dark sky. It was big, about the size of a house. Watching the object, Vatas and Toshi stood, surprised. Menrui hung on Vatas's shoulder, asleep as ever, drooling, and seemingly snoring.

Kama stumbled out of the ruined wall, obviously injured. His left foot was uncontrolably shaking; part of his rib has been broken and his face had signs of burnt: it seemed as if he had took a blast to the face. Kama's short black sword was broken in half, the sharp point dangling. In his other hand was his scythe, smoke hanging from it and drifting up to the sky. "You managed to put a dent in me.....who are you exactly?" Kama muttered, his eyes alert.
Nui ruffled through his hair with his hand. "I already said, Nui Onimusha." Immediatly, Kama's eyebrows shot up. "Onimusha? You don't mean...yes, you are." With that, he raised his scythe at Nui.
"You are the Kage of the Light Clan!"

Chapter Thirty-Three: Just Before The Storm

Standing directly ten yards behind Matsumora and her group was the dashingly handsome Hisagi Onimusha, father of Nui Onimusha.
He had broad shoulders as well as a strongly-built body, but was slender. Hisagi stood tall and proud, resembling a highly-respected and powerful ruler. He wore a white and seemingly slick robe, the collars, sleeves and bottom of the robe in black and red. White hair fell on his shoulders, matching along with the essence from his robe. Two large swords that resembled Chinese scimitars were on his back, cleaned and not even a little rusted even though it had tasted the blood of battle for years.
A single long scar ran over his right eye, showing proof of his battles. His black eyes seemed to pierce at everyone who looked into them, which most people never dared to look.
With that, he offered a small hand to Matsumora, Allon, and Kaname as they slowly walked to him, in a mixture of both fear and respect.

"You sure those ANBU were right," Sakura muttered as she quickly glanced at her surroundings, "Because I can't see a thing."
It had been over fifteen minutes since they had begun their search, and things were going uneventful so far. Senso had sent Nui to scout ahead a few minutes ago, and he hasn't returned since then. Since they had begun their search, Sakura had realized that those rumors about the Country of Snow were very true, all she had saw so far was nothing but ice and snow, and for miles to come.
Senso was next to her, five feet across to her left. He was kneeling on one leg, his hand touching the icy ground.
"Well, the information was reliable, they even sent in a blurry picture of what seemed to be Hisagi Onimusha, but then....."

"Then what?" Sakura asked, wincing at the sound of her previous sensei's name.

"...........we suddenly lost contact with them. It was a few days after the image arrived."

"How are you sure?" Sakura asked quietly. Senso said nothing in reply, instead pointing at the ice where his hand was. "Look below, Sakura..."
Sakura looked at what he was pointing at, instinctively knowing what ever Senso was pointing at, it wouldn't be pleasant at all. And she was right, once again, as she saw the outlines of the bodies floating through the chilly water, now stained with blood. She was more astonished to see their masks drifting lazily alongside them, all three slashed in half.
Alarmingly, she quickly glanced at Senso.
"Where is Nui?!"

"Now you are aware of the importance of this particular mission, are you ready?" Hisagi asked as he stood before the group he had personally chosen for this mission. Matsumora offered a shrug while Kaname nodded simply.
"I am prepared for this mission, Lord Hisagi, but working with some of these people, I am not so happy about..." Allon muttered, glancing at Matsumora, still sore from the kicking incident incident involving Matsumora's foot and Allon's rear behind.
Hisagi remained silent, and then decided to ignore Allon's comment in his mind.
He then brought out his left arm and with that, snapped. Immediately, the snapping sound lashed out and echoed across the hot desert, seemingly getting more and more distanced by the second.
Finally, the sound seemed to stop as a huge change in the atmosphere happened, shaking everything. Allon collapsed first, Matsumora second, and Kaname third, desperately trying to fight against it, but to no better as they all tried to breathe, but couldn't. The only one remained standing was Hisagi, who seemingly had no trouble keeping it at bay or breathing.
Suddenly, something appeared before Hisagi. It was pure black, and quickly slammed down onto the crusty warm sand. Upon impact, sand flew everywhere as everyone covered their eyes. The sand eventually stopped blowing and suddenly, the atmosphere once again let up back to it's normal level.
Matsumora coughed, sand flying out of her mouth while Allon was on his legs in a kneeling position, his eyes wide open.
Incredible! I can't believe it....the strength of that chakra, it completely overwhelmed me, Allon thought, shocked. Kaname was now standing, bewildered as well.
"This is a hint of what you will receive if you fail me." Hisagi said coldly, his black eyes staring right into their souls as they gulped. He then pointed to the object behind it, and everyone saw that it was another Black Gate.
"Now go. You're dismissed."

Matsumora, Allon, and Kaname all nodded and instanteniusly started running toward the Black Gate as if their lives depended on it, and each knew that their lives really did depend on the outcome of this mission.

"Senso, let's move," Sakura announced, "Nui might be in danger."
Senso offered a small nod as he watched a small bird fly up to the skies, holding a small scroll on its back, heading for the Light Clan.
"Yes, let's go."

I'm now scared of Hisagi.

But I like the fact that the antagonist is strong in this arc. Maybe... Sakura could use her own chakra to collapse the place that they are in? Which, BTW, seems like an alternate dimension that Hisagi created to me.

Really close? It might be his mind, or something like that...

I know that he's strong, but I don't think that he could survive the explosion of the dimension that he's in. His strength is what made me think that it would have to be really big to take him out.

Anyway, I'm going to bed now. See if my predictions were right in the morning!

Chapter Thirty-Four: The Beginning of the Frosty Storm


"Damn that wannabe assassin," Sakura muttered as she ran, her feet stomping on the ice softly. She moved fast, covering about a quarter-kilometer every ten seconds. Senso followed behind her, about thirty meters from her, growing more and more distance by the second, "He was lying the whole time, he fooled all of us."
She narrowed her eyes in fiery anger and then glanced back at Senso, "Hurry up, slowpoke! We're not gonna make it if you keep running at that pace!", in a mixture of both anger for Hisagi as well as excitement for the reunion.

"Allon, do you know where the target is right now?" Kaname muttered to Allon. They were now standing on the ice floor. After going into the Black Gate, they had instantly appeared here, and still all were adapting from the weather change. Matsumora stood alongside them, quietly gazing at the slowly drifting sun on the horizon.
Allon remained silent, and after a long moment, slowly closed his eyes once again. With that, he responded.
"Yes, I have located the target, Kaname. Nui Onimusha is currently forty-nine meters, five yards, ten feet, and two and a half centimeters north-west of us."

Nui slowly walked around, glancing at all of the surroundings around him quickly. As he had imagined, he had seen nothing out of the ordinary either. After just scouting at random places, he still had seen nothing. Suddenly, he heard a familiar yell behind him. Upon reaction, Nui immediately spun around, grasping a kunai in his left hand.
His grip loosened as he saw that it Sakura. Nui then yelled out, "Where's Senso?"
Sakura seemed to suddenly halt as she glanced alarmingly at something over Nui. Nui quickly realized that there was a enormous shadow hanging over him and turned around to see the wolf-faced Kaname slam his fist into Nui's head as blood flew in the chilly air, scattering to the ice.

"Nui!!!" Sakura yelled in both alarm and shock as she saw the remains of Nui's body, now surrounded by a large puddle of his blood, collapse onto the ice floor. She had seen Kaname appear and smash his fist right into Nui's head, and heard the crunching from the skulls and watched as the crushed head fly as the body fell.
"Damn, you took all the fun." Matsumora muttered. Sakura turned her head to the newly arrived person who was now standing beside Kaname. Allon stood next to her, his eyes still closed.
Allon then moved closer to Matsumora and then whispered into her ears as Matsumora's lips slowly curled into an evilly smile.
"Well, well, looks like this kid is gonna be a little harder than what it seems."
She then glanced at Sakura.
"Maybe this one will prove a little more of a challenge."

Sakura stood, unmoving as she began to grip her hands in anger. Her shocked expression quickly turned into anger as she immediately broke into a mad rush at Kaname, Matsumora, and Allon as the group immediately set into a defensive stance.
Then, to Sakura's surprised, Nui's body exploded into white smoke, making a "poofing" noise. The smoke created a small cloud as everyone jumped back while Matsumora continued her somewhat-careless but seemingly wicked grin.

The group watched as the cloud of white smoke faded away, and gazed with bored expressions as Sakura immediately burst out of the cloud, holding a strange-looking kunai in both hands. Matsumora smiled and started to unbutton one of the higher buttons on her robe. With that, she quickly pulled out something as Sakura came clashing in, and the sound of swords clashing against one another was heard as the two female Shinobi stood, Sakura's dual kunais against Matsumora's gigantic executioner blade.
Before either Allon or Kaname could react, something lashed out of the sky and landed right before Kaname in a kneeling position. Just when Kaname was about to notice, he felt something on his back.
"Don't move."
Kaname slowly turned his head, to look at the face of Senso, holding his lance at Kaname's neck. Senso then glanced at the person next to him, and was not surprised to see Nui holding a long katana to Allon's chest, it's sharp end least then a centimeter away from piercing his skin.
Sakura smiled as her kunai shake from the force of Matsumora's executioner blade.

"Now then, anyone of you people willing to tell us where Hisagi Onimusha is?"

Chapter Thirty-Five: The Battle in the Icy Wasteland


"Lord Hisagi, huh? Well, I'm not going to betray him, no matter what!" Matsumora yelled in response to Sakura's interrogating question as Sakura offered a slight frown.
"Very well. Then I'll just have to force you!"
And with that, Sakura raised her leg to kick Matsumora, who responded by leaping back as Sakura threw one of her special kunais at her. As the kunai flew toward Matsumora she quickly formed handsigns, and stopped after a few seconds. Matsumora quickly countered by blocking Sakura's special kunai with her executioner blade.
Matsumora suddenly smelled the sound of paper burning as she glanced down, and there was a piece of burning paper tied to the end of Sakura's kunai. Before she could react, the spark reached the end of the kunai as Sakura ran toward it, smiling as a large light emerged, blinding everyone for a moment, as it overwhelmed everybody.
The light soon died down, and Sakura or Matsumora were gone, Sakura's kunai on the ground where they had stood just a split second once ago.

"So...she decided to used her Flash of White Jutsu....that must means she's pretty pissed off right now." Senso commented with a soft shrug. He then glanced to look at Kaname, whose eyes gazed at the spot where Matsumora had disappeared. After a long moment, he finally opened his mouth.
"What have you done......to Matsumora?"
Senso offered a careless shrug.
"You mean that woman with the executioner sword? My friend, Sakura, used one of her jutsus to teleport them elsewhere."
At that moment, Kaname instantly spun around, lashing his fist at Senso's head, who quickly reacted by ducking as Kaname's fist drove through the air where Senso's head once was. Suddenly, Senso barely glanced down to see Kaname's right leg lash up and kicked him in the stomach, sending Senso flying across the air, the whole ten yards.
"Never hurt my comrades," he growled, "Or I'll kill you!"
Senso crashed onto the ice floor, half-buried by several inches of snow. His lance had slipped out of his hand when he was kicked through the air and was now several yards away from him.
Meanwhile, Nui stood emotionless, shocked as he gazed at the sprawled Senso. He then turned to see Allon gone, and heard a whistling sound behind him. Before Nui could counterattack, Allon, who was now behind him, whipped a kick at Nui. Nui was sent flying.
He then quickly landed on the ice with a thud, on his feet as he glanced at Senso, who was slowly standing up, shaking the snow off his clothes and reaching for his lance while Kaname and Allon both set into a taijutsu stance, ready.

Half a kilometer away, a single icicle stuck out on the ground, standing three feet tall. The sun shone dimly on it as two shadows in the distance moved rapidly, circling the lone icicle, which stood at the center. The wind howled, and ice slowly cracked beneath the two opponents' feet as they quickly paced around the area.
And with that, the clouds passed the sun as the sun's radiant light shone more radiantly as Matsumora and Sakura burst towards one another, blades out as the sound of weapons clashing against each other was heard, echoing across the chilly wind as the lone icicle, now with two slashes etched on it, collapsed into the icy floor and shattered into pieces.

Chapter Thirty-Six: Matsumora Anokichi VS Sakura Helga


As the single icicle shattered into thousands of pieces from the two slashes, Matsumora grinned wickedly. In her right hand, she wielded her executioner blade, blood dripping from it steadily. Blood was on her mouth from the surprise attack delivered by Sakura.
Sakura stood twenty yards away from her, wearing a cocky smile as blood dripped on her hand, where a cut was on her thumb.
"You're better than I thought." Matsumora muttered as she glanced at Sakura. "Same goes for you." Sakura replied, spinning one of her kunais rapidly in her left hand. She then caught it as Matsumora charged at her with the executioner blade, performing one-handed handsigns along the way. Matsumora finished and yelled, "Ice Style: Frozen Spear!", as the ice around her started to move toward Matsumora's left hand, and quickly forming into what seemed a long spear made out of pure ice. She then threw it at Sakura, who dodged it by side stepping as Matsumora's executioner blade whisked toward her. Sakura blocked Matsumora's blade with her kunai and then looked down to see Matsumora holding a whirling ball of water in her free hand as Matsumora looked up and grinned evilly.
"Let's see if you could take this kind of damage at pointblank. Fire Style: Black Dragon Fire Bomb."

Kaname growled, his fists shaking as Senso thrust his lance, directed at Kaname's chest. At once, Kaname grasped the head of the lance, and with that, shook it as it snapped in two.
Senso widened his eyes in alarm as he leaped back, dropping the piece of his now broken lance on the way.
What the hell.....he snapped my steel lance in two.....and with so effortlessness..., he thought as he looked up to see Kaname charging right out at him, his wolf-like face curling into a wild snarl.

Damn!, Nui thought as Allon punched Nui in the stomach. He flew upwards as Allon jumped up and barraged him in a series of kicks. Nui fell from the sky, landing on the ice with a crash as the ice he had landed on broke into segments and the icy cold water beneath started to overwhelm him. Allon landed on the ice ten meters away, his eyes still closed.
"Using clones, are we?"

Precisely as Allon had known, the Nui in the water instantly exploded into flames, which was quickly dispersed by the rushing water."How did you know?" Allon glanced behind him to see Nui standing behind him, his hands in his tools' pouch. "Simple," Allon muttered and slowly turned around, "It was merely using my special abilities.".
Nui offered a confused but curious expression.
"Special ability?"

Smoke hanged in the middle of the area as Sakura immediately burst out of the cloud, slightly burnt. Her kunai had a small chip on it, and in her other hand was a shield as bright as light.
That was close....good thing I had enough time to use the Light Shield Jutsu or I would have lost an arm back there...

She then turned to see Matsumora, who stood fifty feet away.

I have no choice then....I'll have to use "it"

"You are powerful," Matsumora stated, resting on her gigantic executioner blade, which was smashed right into the icy ground she stood on, wearing a big grin of boredom, "But your speed is nothing special, Sakura Helga. You're just a fraud who's skills are overrated."
Upon reaction, Sakura's lips curled into a smirk.
"Oh really? Did you noticed anything peculiar about it?"
"In fact I did," Matsumora said matter-of-factly, "The way you killed your enemies, it always ended with a flash of white." Immediately, Sakura grinned. "Wanna know why?" she asked, a broad grin on her face as she suddenly threw her lone kunai upwards. As it flew in the chilly winds of ice, it spun rapidly as Sakura immediately began to perform handsigns. Matsumora grasped her executioner blade's handle in surprise, jumping back as the blade flew out of the cracked ice it was once latched on as frozen water quickly filled out of the small hole.

Suddenly, the whole area shook as only one single voice was heard:

"Let me show you....what it truly means to be the Lightspeed Shinobi of the Light Clan."

Senso quickly sidestepped as Kaname's right fist barely passed him by three centimeters. He followed that with an evasive backflip as Kaname kicked at the ground where he had just occupied. The icy ground was now cracked up, ice shards sticking out, ice-cold water flowing from it. Kaname then glanced up at Senso and snarled once again.
"Stop moving!" he roared angrily and attempted another punch at Senso, who quickly began to rapidly perform handsigns.

The chilly winds lashed around Matsumora, who stood ten yards away from where Sakura had stood, before the winds suddenly became more violent. The winds had surrounding Sakura from that point on and she had vanished from view. Matsumora gripped her executioner blade hard, from a mixture of surprise and excitement.
She then started to perform one-handed handsigns as suddenly, the winds stopped. Everything became silent as something suddenly whipped out from somewhere. Matsumora frowned, clutching her executioner blade as a large white of flash appeared, blinding Matsumora as it soon overwhelmed her and a soft voice could be heard:

"Flash of White Death Jutsu."

Chapter Thirty-Eight: Another Madman with a Weapon of Mass Destruction: Part One


Note: Today's release chapter will be a tad larger than a usual chapter.


The flash of light only happened for a split second. It overwhelmed everything in a eighty-meter radius of Sakura Helga, yet it just came and went like nothing, leaving behind it's user and the person that it was used against, Matsumora.
Matsumora was crouched, on her knees, her expression showing pain as blood dripped from her right arm, five slashes on it. Her blood flowed into the icy water she stood on and mixed with it as Matsumora gazed at Sakura in agony and anger. Finally, the silence ended as Sakura opened her mouth.
"I'm surprised....you're not dead," she said in a sort-of-bored look as Matsumora immediately glared at her.
"You're very skilled.....to be able to have summoned a shield of fire around you at the last moment."
At that moment, Matsumora leaped back, her humongous executioner blade in her left hand. "You'll pay for that. You'll pay, with your damn wretched life!"
She then let go of the grip on her blade. The huge sword clattered to the ice, dimly cracking it as it slid downwards. Before Sakura could be alert, Matsumora quickly pulled out something in her robes. With her left hand, she whipped it forward in Sakura's direction.
With a broad and triumphant grin on her face, Matsumora lashed the object she pulled at Sakura, as somehow, a wave of white flames suddenly appeared, to Sakura's astonishment and horror.

"Weapon of Mass Destruction #45, Fire Chain." Matsumora stated wickedly.

Kato sat on the rooftop of the building, his eyes closed. His legs were crossed, and he was forming a handsign. In ten long tiring weeks, Kato had finally managed to get into the state of complete meditation and relaxation.
The dim sun stood lazily in the red sky, reading to set off into darkness and for the moon to arrive. In a while, Kato was at peace, perfect bliss.
Unfortunately for him, that "bliss" was just going to last just for a few more seconds as the receiver came. Receivers were shinobi who's main objective was to deliver and receive messages, at it implied in their name. They had little combat prowess, but were all intelligent and strong-footed, except for one. And that one was the one receiver who had found Senso's rebellious pigeon, also jokingly named "Mr. Perkins" for some strange reason.
Now, with the message in his hands, the receiver timidly made his way to Kato. The receiver took in the sights as he walked; the building was painted in light tan, and the rooftop was flat, except for a few edges and bumps here and there. He then set his sight into the setting sun: the sharp light reflected on his glasses as the receiver accidentally walked into a bump section of the rooftop.
He went down like a sack of potatoes, quickly sliding into Kato. The receiver tried his best to warn Kato, but Kato was already in his state of meditation.
With that, the receiver's legs met Kato's behind rear and Kato was sent falling down a ten-story building.

Chapter Thirty-Eight: The Message: Part Two


Everyone walking in the streets who witnessed Kato fall down were both astonished in his well-being as well as received their just dose of comedy for the day.
Just as the receiver had thought that Kato had died, he looked down, to see the man in a pile of garbage, surrounded by dirty underwear and a rotted banana peel on his face. Kato had luckily landed inside the garbage disposal container, but he was furious despite the fact that he had just escaped a major injury, at the very least. Now attempting to get out of the garbage disposal, Kato grasped on the edge of it as by-passers around him cracked up in laughter.

"I'm sorry." the receiver muttered as he helped Kato out, who glared needles at him.
After that, there was an aura of silence between them as the two walked through the streets, the man covered in toe to head in trash and the boy with a goofy expression on his face.
"What did you need me for?" Kato finally asked, breaking the aura of silence. "For this." the receiver muttered and quickly placed his hands in his pocket to pull the letter out. The receiver then handed Kato the letter, who opened it and quickly skimmed through it as his eyes widened.
"Damn....he hoodwinked us." Kato muttered. He then suddenly spun to the receiver and ordered, "Get me Nami Hanochi, stat!"

"Lord Hisagi," the man said as he crouched on the slick ice floor, "W.O.M.D. #45 is online."
The man wore a robe as same as the ones Kaname, Mataumora, and Allon were wearing; he had twenty scrolls on him, and there were a dagger strapped to his back. The man had dirty blond hair, cut short.
As he kneel before his master, Lord Hisagi, who sat on a throne.
The throne was entirely created out of ice, and looked delicate and beautiful. It seemed to hypnotize anyone who glanced at it, all except for Hisagi, who playfully smiled, as if he was in a game of cat and mouse right now.
"I noticed, Zara. You are aware of what happens to someone who releases a Weapon of Mass Destruction without permitted access, do you not?"

The man known as Zara glanced up in shock.
"You mean..."
Hisagi nodded.

"Yes. Execute them."
