Without a doubt, I sensed an untimely presence in the plains. I, a mere inhabitant of these dormant plains, have protected it from unwisely intruders and foretold bringers of destruction for ages, if not eons. I had existed on these plains prior to the Roman Empire, throughout the systemically-orchestrated destruction of the Knights' Templar, and even now, in modern times. I have waited here, on the plains. I have been very patient.
At last, a traveler arrives, standing perhaps thirty meters from where I sat. The scatter folds of his haggard clothing trenched across the grass, dirtied with fatigue. It had been clear the traveler had somehow overcame a great ordeal to reach here, where I, humble yet merciless, stood.
"Leave me be, boy." I remarked coldly, drawing a gleaming scimitar as I did. The blade hovered across four feet of slick steel, before slightly withdrawing to the ground beneath.
"Or face the consequences."

The days had been long and weary, yet the lone traveler continued his gloomy trek across the green landscape. This field stood in stark contrast to the lands that this man had passed though in his travels - battlefields, ruined cities, empty villages. All areas poisoned by war and drenched in death. This field was verdant and full of life.
I take a moment to just relax and enjoy the beauty and crisp air. The cool air from the cloudy sky meets my skin though rips and tears in my tattered robes. I try to live in the moment and forget all the events that had brought me here. Unfortunately, I realize that I am not alone.
I focus my eyes on a man about thirty feet away. "Leave me be, boy."
This man didn't understand that I too sought solace. It seemed that everywhere I traveled - conflict followed me.
The man flourished his sword and spoke again "Or face the consequences." "I only search for peace in a war torn world - I have no quarrel with you." My hand hovers over the hilt of my claymore.

"You speak of peace, yet all I witness is a trail of unforetold destruction behind you, and self-destruction before you." I replied, my eyes darting over the features of the traveler. Apparently, what I had stated had been true. If not long ago, he had been a lost mercenary of war, yet now he yearned for peace.
"Do not speak such lies, or I shall kill you from this very spot you stand." I proceeded, cautiously stepping forward to close the gap repeatedly. Twenty nine meters, fifteen centimeters. Twenty-six meters, ninety-seven centimeters. Twenty-three centimeters, one centimeter ....

"I have seen the devastation of war and the tragedy that comes from malice and that is why I seek a different path."
The stranger appraised me and continued - "Do not speak such lies, or I shall kill you from this very spot you stand." "If I could convince people that all I desire is peace - I guess that I would have never embarked on this journey," I say. Realizing the futility of convincing this stranger of my pacifistic ideals, I draw my claymore and hold it up in a defensive posture. I would let him take the first swing. Any actions I would take afterwards would be justified.

Without a word, my pace heightened. Pivoting my foot to the left, I spun around, gaining momentum as my scimitar curved for a clean beheading. Simultaneously, my left knee burst towards for a quick shot at my opponent's stomach not to only injure him, but also to temporarily destroy his defensive stance.

(Note: I am a martial artist so I may use stances from said martial arts training. Feel free to google them.)
As my opponent closes in, he spins toward me building up force for a powerful blow with his scimitar. Noticing the high swing, I drop into a low horse riding stance - my torso dropping a foot and a half lower than it originally stood. As I sink, I bring the hilt of blade down to block the incoming knee strike. Having evaded the initial strike, I perform a riposte stab towards his stomach hoping to catch him before he is able to recover from his first swing.
