I think he should of lasted longer in the series because he is my fav Ninja!

FYI he never succomb to his injuries from the mob infact Kakashi and a few villagers stablized him...

It was a roundhouse kick to the back of his face from Chuck Norris that did him in blood everywhere!

And all that was left was the sword which is why the ending scene was over looking a mound of dirt and the sword sticking out of it!

Also after Team 7 left for the Leaf Village Chuck Norris took the sword and uses it to pick his teeth since it was his in the first place Zabuza was barrowing it....

Well what is to stop them from doing something like:

Orochimaru has taken Haku's body and soul and used some twisted dark jutsu to make him his slave. This act angers the soul of Zabuza so much so he awakens himself to walk a path in the afterlife to try save haku's soul and a god of death decides to send him back to earth charged with the task to return haku's soul to his watch.

Zabuza of course goes threw trails to survive facing his demons and Orochimaru overcoming them to free Haku's soul and in the end as he returns to his resting place and go back to hell he gets a repreave and is sent to heaven...

But on his way to join haku in heaven he is pulled back to earth and is re-born charged to live a new life and as a trail to keep this life from becoming tainted again, Haku is his guardian angel who only he can see and hear. But Zabuza dosen't remember his past anymore...

See this could be a series in itself Infact as he grows up Naruto stumbles across this kid who looks exactly like Zabuza and trains him to become a ninja and do the right thing this time around...

Well the first half could be a tie into the series during the 3 years that were skipped and over looked and only thing we know about it everyone aged 3 years and naruto trained with prevy sage...
